Brittany Mootz

Director of Community Time 

For the past two years, Brittany has taught English Language Arts, volunteered as a parent helper in the classroom, and tutored in our community classes for Joobilo. She has upper-division courses from CSUF which have given her the leadership skills to ensure that each Thursday operates smoothly. The students and families she has encountered have been such a source of inspiration that she will embark on a new journey with Joobilo as the Community Time Director. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Steven, and her three wonderful children.

Pat Smith

Head of Science Team

Pat holds a B.A. from CSULB and a Masters from CSULA. For 40 years, Pat has been presenting science in many different aspects; Youth Science Center (nonprofit in Hacienda Heights), Whittier City School District as a science coordinator, Science Methods at Cal Poly Pomona to preservice teachers, community outreach, etc. She has a passion for teaching science and making it understandable and practical for daily life. She really enjoys teaching the WOW moments of hands-on science and watching as kids try to figure out how things work! Pat can be seen with her hands in all things science at Joobilo. Outside of Joobilo, Pat and Louis, her husband of 48 years, enjoy traveling the country. Together with their grandson, they love to take pictures of unusual signs, architecture, interesting activities and then put the pictures in albums to remember and relive their adventures.

Veronica Rubio

Site Manager

Veronica has been with Joobilo for 7 years as site coordinator working customer service and quality control. The parents and students love seeing her cheerful face each morning they arrive. Behind the scenes, she is busy making sure things run smoothly, safely and cleanly. Outside of Joobilo, Veronica, her husband Fernando, and their 115lb furbaby Scout enjoy traveling and exploring new places.

Susie Oriente

High School Team Leader

Susie studied art and education and received a B.A. from Virginia Wesleyan University. After graduation, she moved to California and began her teaching career. She furthered her education at CSUDH studying humanities with an emphasis in art and history. She has a passion for making learning fun and is happy to be able to share that with Joobilo as a High School Specialist and classroom instructor. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and beagle.

Ashley De La Torre

Office Manager

Ashley has been running all things behind the scenes as Joobilo’s Office Manager for more than 3 years now. She holds a B.A. in Biblical Studies from Life Pacific College and she uses her depth of knowledge and background in ministry to do what she loves, which is to help people. When not working, she loves to spend time with her family, read a good book, or relax at the beach, preferably all three at the same time!

Stacey Rubio

Director/Owner

Stacey Rubio and her husband, Joseph, built Joobilo Academic Community from the ground up in 2012. Since then she has grown the business to provide more than 300 students a year the chance to be a part of a community offering classically modeled education courses to homeschooling students of all ages. Her passion for making learning enjoyable, coupled with her background in business management and her B.A from Moody Bible institute in Chicago, have provided the company with the perfect balance of high academic standards and fun, engaging, hands-on learning opportunities. She lives in La Mirada with her husband, Joseph, and four beautiful children. When not running a growing business, she enjoys traveling, camping, and spending time with friends and family.
