Students will time travel back to the the medieval and early modern times (AD 500-1789) starting with the rise and fall of the Roman Empire, the origins of Islam during the middle ages, the emergence of trade routes, and the civilizations of Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. Students will put themselves in the poulaines (or shoes) of serfs and lords living in Europe under the feudal system in Europe during the middle ages. Next, students will create their own artifacts that represent the culture and traditions of the Meso-American and Andean people. Students will role play Martin Luther and John Calvin and their key roles in the Reformation in Europe as well as the main thinkers of the Enlightenment.This is a year-long class.
