Some themes found in these books include but are not limited to representations of sexuality/gender, criticisms on state power, prejudice and state power, religion, and mental illness. The goal of this class is to bring a critical eye to literature and what society says about these topics, as as well as discover what the Bible has to say thus finding for ourselves where we stand. This is an open-ended, fluid course that has no “right answers,” whose sole purpose is to develop and deepen curiosity.

Theater Company Once Upon a Crime The Trial of Goldilocks | 7th-12th grade | Elective | Per 2 | CYP
|
This semester we will produce a court comedy where the character Goldilocks is put on trial for the crimes she committed against the three bears: Papa Bear, Mama Bear, and Baby Bear. Watch as many beloved fictional characters take the stand and tell their version of the story. However, can these witnesses be trusted to give an unbiased retelling? Are they trustworthy themselves? This multi-ending story allows the audience to take the role of the jury and answer the ultimate question themselves; Is Goldilocks guilty or innocent? Throughout the semester the children will learn theatrical movement, projection, and improvisation to assist with their final performance. This is a semester long class. Astronomy with Lab A-G | High School | Period 4 | Cyp
|
Imagine holding a grain of sand at arm’s length against the night sky. How many galaxies do you think would fit in that tiny space? Now Google Hubble Deep Field. Yep—thousands. If your jaw is on the floor or you just said, What?!, this class is for you. It’s for the intellectually curious and those filled with wonder and awe at the universe we live in.
We’ll tackle big questions: How do we know the Sun is at the center of our solar system? What are constellations, and why are they slowly changing? How do stars form, and what happens when they die? What is a black hole, and could they warp space and time? How do we get those breathtaking images from the James Webb Space Telescope? Just how big is the universe—and could there be life beyond Earth?
If you’ve ever asked these questions, you’re not alone—and you are capable of finding the answers. With passion, evidence, and a relentless curiosity, we’ll explore these topics and many more through hands-on labs, and activities.
